Mallory Diane Pugh was born in Littleton, Colorado, on April 29, 1998.

Her mother was a long-distance runner, and her father was a track and field athlete who also played football.

Brianna, Pugh’s older sister, is a role model for her and the reason she started playing soccer as a kid.

Given that Mallory Pugh parents were both sportspersons, it is not so much of a surprise that she, together with her sister–a soccer player herself–are sportspersons too.

Pugh attended Highlands Ranch’s Mountain Vista High School from 2012 to 2016. While at school, she played soccer. And this was where she made her name and got many teams circling around her for her services.

In three seasons with the squad, Pugh scored 47 goals and added 23 assists.

After leading her team to a state championship as a freshman, Pugh was named to the All-Colorado Team.

In 2013, she was named Mountain Vista’s offensive MVP as well as an NSCAA Youth All-American.

Despite missing more than half of her high school games due to national team commitments, she was able to assist her team reach the state quarterfinals her sophomore year.

Pugh scored 24 goals and 12 assists in 18 games as a junior, leading the team to the state semifinals.

The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame later honoured her with the 2014–15 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year and the 2015 High School Female Athlete of the Year.

Professional career of Mallory

The parents of Mallory Pugh continued to support her during the times she played college football and the time came for her to play professionally.

Many teams were in for her services and she made sure she went to a team that would help her reach her fullest potential.

She made her professional debut for the Spirit against FC Kansas City on May 20, 2017.

After scoring six goals in her inaugural season, Pugh was a finalist for NWSL Inaugural of the Year.

Pugh remains with the Spirit for the 2018 season. On May 27, she sprained her PCL in her right knee, missing eight games before returning on August 5 against the Seattle Reign.

On January 16, 2020, at the NWSL College Selection, Pugh was traded to Sky Blue FC for four draft picks.

On September 5, 2020, she made her Sky Blue debut against the Washington Spirit, coming on in the 61st minute.

As Sky Blue triumphed 2-1 in extra time, Pugh assisted Margaret Purce with the game-winning goal.

In December 2020, Pugh was traded to the Chicago Red Stars, her third team in three years.

In 2021, Pugh made her NWSL Challenge Cup debut, starting the team’s game against Kansas City but leaving after 35 minutes.
