Man shares story of how Ministry of Health rejected free hospital beds due to huge import duties that made him send them to Nigeria for free

A US-based Ghanaian has shared a story of how the Ministry of Health lost several hospital beds to Nigeria due to huge import duties.

According to Osei Kufuor, as he’s identified on Twitter, he chanced on a warehouse in the US full of hospital beds and was asked to send to Africa.

He, therefore, planned on sending them to the Ministry of Health but he was asked to pay huge taxes at the port before could clear the beds which were given to him free of charge, making him rescind his decision to send them to Nigeria.

After careful analysis, considering that he wasn’t going to pay any dime, he counted on the Nigerian government and they accepted the beds with no hesitation.

He gave out the beds to the Nigerian government to be distributed across the country duty-free at the port.
