Slip Entertainment owner and head of Hitz FM, Mark Okraku Mantey has stated in an interview with Sammy Forson Joy FM that although he’s a staunch Christian, he does not do tithing because he doesn’t see the need for it. “I’m quite religious but I don’t do tithing”, he said in the interview.
A tithe is a one-tenth part of something, paid as a contribution to a religious organization or compulsory tax to government. Today, tithes are normally voluntary and paid in cash, cheques, or stocks, whereas historically tithes were required and paid in kind, such as agricultural products.
It’s a subject which divided opinions in the Christendom and from what we deduced from Mark’s interview, he subscribe to the notion that pastors have ‘shortchanging’ us with tithe.
Talking about other areas relating to the music industry, Mark Okraku said it takes hit songs to guarantee the sustainability of an artiste’s brand. According to him, some level of education is needed on how to manage your products better.
“It is important to educate the creative players on how to market our products and more. People think that when you have hit songs it is enough. You need to educate yourself to be able to sustain your brand.” he added.
