Martin Truex Jr. and Ex-Girlfriend, Sherry Pollex Relationship Timeline

Find out from this article who the girlfriend of Martin Truex Jr. is and more about their relationship and breakup.

Who is Sherry Pollex?

Sherry Pollex, Martin Truex Jr.’s longtime girlfriend and a revered figure in the NASCAR industry, died Sunday morning following a nine-year struggle with ovarian cancer. She was 44 years old.

Pollex was the daughter of longtime NASCAR car owner Greg Pollex, whose PPC Racing team won the 2000 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship with driver Jeff Green.

Pollex met Truex in the mid-2000s while working in public relations for the racing industry. Truex won back-to-back Xfinity titles in 2004 and 2005 before moving up to the Cup Series in 2006.

The two started dating in 2005, beginning an 18-year relationship that lasted until the couple announced their divorce prior to the commencement of the season.

Pollex and Truex’s lives were changed in August 2014 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, kicking off a nine-year battle against the disease that turned her into a hero to many in NASCAR, a source of inspiration during Truex’s run to the 2017 Cup Series championship, and also fueled the couple’s significant philanthropic efforts away from the racetrack.

Pollex championed several cancer-related issues through the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, including children’s and ovarian cancer programs. The Catwalk for a Cause, an annual fashion show for children with paediatric cancer in which many NASCAR drivers and figures participate, has long been the foundation’s most renowned event. This year’s Catwalk was held on Wednesday, and Pollex, who was not there, received a standing ovation.

Pollex also founded to educate women about ovarian cancer identification and treatment alternatives, as well as the Sherry Strong Integrative Medicine Oncology Clinic at Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina.

How did Sherry Pollex die?

Pollex was appreciated not only for her charity efforts but also for her unyielding spirit. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and went on to fight a nine-year battle.

Despite the difficulties, her fortitude never faltered. Pollex’s tale continues to be an example of tremendous strength and determination, giving hope to countless others battling similar battles.

Pollex’s fight with ovarian cancer was well known in the garage since she and Truex Jr. were the minds behind The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, which assisted ovarian and child cancer victims. Sherry Pollex has been battling the deadly disease since 2014, with the third resurgence set to begin in 2020.

Martin Truex Jr. and Sherry Pollex Breakup

Sherry Pollex’s connections to sports go back even before meeting Truex, Jr., as her grandfather was the owner of a championship-winning team called PPC Racing. She grew up in Marshall Michigan, graduated with a sports marketing degree, and worked at NASCAR for several years.

Through the years, the couple has commemorated various milestones, including Truex Jr.’s first NASCAR Cup Series title in 2017. They have made plenty of appearances on the red carpet together and were honored with the 2017 Myers Brothers Award. In 2014, at the age of 35, Pollex was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer and underwent various surgeries and 17 months of chemotherapy. Pollex and Truex Jr. have supported each other through thick and thin in their 17-year journey together.

The couple broke up after many years of being together. However, the reason for their break up wasn’t made public. The announcement was a big surprise for a relationship that lasted more than 15 years. The No:19 driver announced, requested fans to respect their privacy, and pointed out that he would continue to support Pollex.

“To my fans and partners… Sherry and I have made the decision to end our relationship. I will continue supporting Sherry moving forward. I would ask that you respect our privacy as there will be no further comment about this matter,” Martin Truex Jr. wrote on his Instagram story.

Shelly Pollex posted a story on Instagram, following Truex Jr., that hints at the reasons behind their split. She shared a reel that was captioned “3 things that you need to come to terms with, in life,”. Her list included, “If they wanted to, they would”, “No response is a response,” and “Not everybody has the same values, the same goals, or the same heart that you do“.
