May 2nd & 3rd declared public holidays – Interior Ministry

The Interior Ministry declared May 2 and 3 public holidays in 2022. The ministry has declared Sunday, May 1, 2022, as a statutory public holiday.

Because the holiday falls on a weekend, it will be observed on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Because May 1, 2022 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has declared Monday, May 2, 2022, as an additional public holiday, which should be observed nationwide.

May 3 is a public holiday.

Eid-ul-Fitr falls on May 3, 2022. Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid after Ramadan.

Tuesday, May 3, 2022 is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such nationwide, the ministry said in a statement.

Muslims believe the Quran was revealed in Ramadan and fast and perform other rituals to draw closer to Allah.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a major religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan (sawm).
