Meet The Ghanaian Woman Who Quit Teaching After 15yrs To Become A Taxi Driver- Video

The tale of Edith Awuah is certainly a rare one after she made an unorthodox transition from the teaching field to being a taxi driver.

Having taught for 15yrs, Edith decided she had had enough with the parameters of the classroom and decided to ‘break free’ in order to be her own boss and to some extent, gain financial freedom since it’s a common knowledge that teachers are not rewarded handsomely for their yeoman’s job.

She bared it all to SVTV in an exclusive interview on what motivated her to venture into commercial driving which is a rare spectacle in Ghana.

”I prefer this work because it’s flexible, I can choose the come to work or not but with teaching you have to go even if you’re not well. Also, I dislike writing the lesson notes,” Edith Awuah revealed.

She also spotted the difference between Ghana and China in terms of formal education. ”In China, I taught English to kids and even the classroom décor would make you want to learn as a pupil. But here in Ghana, everything is left raw and it seems like a do-or-die affair,” she added.
