The aggrieved customers of Menzgold in Kumasi can no longer wait as they don’t know what’s happened to their funds and have started a demonstration in front of the company’s office at Amakom in the Ashanti Region.
From what sources have told Ghbase.com they’ve blocked the road from Adum to Amakom and also burning car tyres to show indicate that indeed they are serious about retrieving their locked investments with Nana Appiah Mensah’s Menzgold.
A report on mynewsgh.com even states that the customers tried burning down the Menzgold building inside Amakom but for the timely intervention of the Ghana Police, they failed.
Some are seen holding placards with various inscriptions and one of the placards reads, “Otumfuo save us”. Others also read, “NAM1, a criminal walking alive”, “This is not the change we voted for”…referring to the NPP-Nana Addo led government.
The company has been facing difficulties since the SEC asked them to stop taking in new customers since September 2018 over license issues.
Although the company had released several press statements stating they would be paying customers, it seems people have not received their funds yet, hence the agitation.
