Retired midfielder for Ghana Black Stars, Michael Essien is under fire especially on social media after coming out publicly to support LGBT community groups in the country.

The highly respected Ghanaian footballer who started his career here in Ghana has left many disappointed after endorsing the need for queer rights to be respected in Ghana.

In a post on Essien’s official Instagram account (@michaelessien) he said, “<span;>We see you, we hear you, we support you. Our LGBTQIA plus community in Ghana.

Essien’s post, however, did not sit well with Ghanaians who have mad respect for the retired footballer.
