Michael Jerome Oher is a former American football offensive tackle who spent eight seasons in the National Football League, principally with the Baltimore Ravens.

Oher was predicted to be among the top prospects for the 2009 NFL Draft as early as 2008. With the 23rd pick in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected Oher.

Oher and the Baltimore Ravens agreed to a five-year, $13.8 million contract on July 30, 2009. He began the 2009 season as right tackle but was switched to left tackle when lineman Jared Gaither got hurt. He made a comeback to right tackle in week eight.

Oher started each game in 2009, starting five games at left tackle and eleven at right tackle. When the Ravens defeated the New England Patriots 33-14 on January 10, 2010, he started at right tackle and didn’t allow a single sack.

Oher was a member of the Panthers team that competed in Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016. The Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers by a score of 24-10.

Oher and the Panthers agreed to a three-year, $21.6 million contract extension on June 17, 2016, with $9.5 million of that amount guaranteed. Oher participated in just three games during the 2016 season before being put on injured reserve on November 25, 2016 due to a concussion.
