On March 9, 1993, Min Yoon-gi was born in Daegu, South Korea. He attended Taejeon Elementary School, Gwaneum Middle School, and Apgujeong High School as the younger of two boys. After earning a degree in broadcasting and entertainment from Global Cyber University in March 2019, he registered at Hanyang Cyber University to pursue a Master of Business Administration in advertising and media.
After hearing “Ragga Muffin” by Stony Skunk, Suga became involved in rap, claiming it was unlike anything he had ever heard. After hearing Epik High, he made the decision to pursue rapping.
At the age of 13, he started penning song lyrics and discovered MIDI. By the age of 17, he had part-time employment at a recording studio. He started writing and arranging songs, rapping, and performing after that. Prior to being signed, he performed as an underground rapper going by the moniker Gloss. In 2010, he created “518-062,” a composition honouring the Gwangju Uprising, with the hip-hop group D-Town.
What happened to Min Yoongi?
On December 9, 2013, Suga endured surgery at Sinchon’s Severance Hospital after receiving an appendicitis diagnosis. He was released from the hospital on December 17 but returned on December 26 as a result of inflammation at the surgery site. He was therefore unable to go to the year-end music events.
