A mum who married a tree has celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
Kate Elder, 38 — who took the name of its species — maintained it was “one of the best decisions I’ve ever made”.
She and two mates were at its side to toast the occasion with elderflower champagne.
Ex-teaching assistant Kate visits the tree at Rimrose Valley Country Park in Sefton, Merseyside, several times a week.
The bizarre wedding helped draw attention to a campaign to halt plans for a bypass through Rimrose Valley.
But Kate of Melling, who has a boyfriend and two kids, also said the wedding “made me feel a bit more confident”.
She added: “It’s given me a new purpose.”
