An Accra Magistrate Court has ruled that Director of Sparrow Productions Limited, Shirley Frimpong-Manso be made to pay a fine or risk jail term for her outfit’s failure to pay SSNIT contributions of her staff.
During the court hearing, the prosecution led by Nana Akua Animwaa Thompson indicated that Sparrow Productions Limited was in arrears of GH¢64, 203.52 at the Trust as outstanding debt of social security. The outstanding amount was for contributions between September 2011 and June 2016.
The prosecution went on to indicate that Sparrow Productions Limited was made aware of the debt but payment had not been made.
The court which was presided by Dr. Worlanyo Kotoltu ruled that Sparrow Productions Limited made strides to settle all debts that was owed SSNIT in earnest.
Even though Shirley Frimpong-Manso was not present in court when the ruling was passed, her representative and one of the directors of Sparrow Productions Limited, Mr. Kenneth Attoh admitted the charges.
The court also fined the outfit a sum of GH¢600 for defaulting which was going to attract a possible 14-day jail term if payment was not made before an agreed date.
Sparrow Productions Limited is believed to be situated in Kokomlemle, a suburb of Accra and the outfit is noted for providing advertising services to its clients.
