Mystery as Isis Beatle vanishes from US custody

One of the Isis Beatles serving life imprisonment, Alexander Kotey has disappeared from the US prison system.

39-year-old Alexander Kotey was sentenced last year to life imprisonment for torturing and murdering Western hostages. He was kept in custody at Pennsylvania high-security Canaan prison, Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The accused Alexander Kotey was jailed in America last year after pleading guilty to eight criminal charges in 2021. The charges include; abduction, torture, and beheading of Islamic States hostages in Syria between the years of 2012 to 2015.

The families of the victims he murdered have raised concerns over the disappearance of Alexander Kotey. One of the families who have raised concerns includes the daughter of a British aid worker that Kotey murdered.

Kotey also known as ‘Jihadi George’ accepted a plea deal including a ‘cooperation requirement which made him not serve his jail sentence at the ADX Florence prison in Colorado.

A BOP spokesperson said; ‘Alexandra Amon Kotey is not currently in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons. ‘Inmates who were previously in BOP custody and who have not completed their sentence may be outside BOP custody for a period of time for court hearings, medical treatment or for other reasons,’
