Sensational and adorable female musician, Mzbel – full name Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, has condemned marriage between celebrities and posits that, she will never date or marry a celebrity.
In an exclusive interview with GHbase.com, Mzbel said “I will never go out with a celebrity guy talkless of marrying one! It does not work! It mostly doesn’t work! Initially it may seem as though all will be fine but in the end, it will not work, especially in Africa! I will never marry a celebrity!”
Mzbel, who is alleged to have once dated musician Castro but the relationship could not yield, made the point that her disposition is motivated by her personal experience so “I know what I’m telling you.” Asked why in her opinion celebrities marrying themselves don’t work, she revealed that, first “if you are a celebrity, you are always out there. All eyes are on you.
“As a male celebrity, you meet more female fans who are itching to flirt with you – same with the females, so the temptation of one cheating on the other is very very high! It’s very tempting! With the females, it’s more tempting because there are some guys once they set their eyes on you and decides they want to go out with you, they will give you anything you ask or need. At the end, you can fall for it – whether you have a boyfriend, married or not!
“Again, the way the public criticize and spread tales about celebrities, if both partners pay attention to such rumours, speculations and allegations, it breaks up the union. Today you hear your partner is caught with a lady, another time it’s another scandalous story! Sometimes the stories appear so believable that once your partner believes it, the relationship is bound to collapse.
She continued to explain: “Also, there is always competition between the two of you. The man wants attention and the woman wants attention too! At the end of the day, it’s like two competitors living under one roof. It will not work! So as for celebrities marrying each other, I don’t endorse it at all!”
Finally, Mzbel said even if you are a celebrity and you decide to go in for someone who is not a celebrity or in the showbiz industry, it sometimes does not work. “Initially, the person will be like I don’t mind, I understand your job, I don’t mine, and all of that, but, when the hot stories of you starts flying in the media, he or she leaves.”
On record, Akosua Agyapong and Nat Brew now Amandzeba are two classical example of Ghanaian celebrities who married but divorced. Those who dated or are alleged to have dated but broke up are: Yvonne Nelson and Inyanya, Nadia Buari and Jim Iyke, Ekow Smith Asante and Niki Samonas, Okyeame Kwame and Nana Ama Mcbrown, amongst others.
