Almost everyone on Social media is waiting to read Joy FM’s Manasseh Azure’s thoughts on the Otabil-Capital bank saga, as he loves to share his opinions on almost every subject. There’s no doubt that, his writings as a journalist as exposed some corrupt practices in government and is a favorite of many.
Ghanaians were shocked to learn that an amount of Ghc610 million given to Capital Bank to save it from collapsing was misused by Capital Bank, and so the bank ended up collapsing. Reports say Capital Bank used part of the money from BoG to create another bank, Sovereign Bank which also collapsed a year after it was formed.
Dr. Mensa Otabil’s name popped up as he was the Board Chairman of the Capital Bank, so hence, he must have approved or knew about all the decisions that were made in regards to how much the Ghc610 million was spent, money that belongs to the taxpayer given to Capital bank as a loan.
Otabil has stated in a press release that, his role as Board Chairman was a non-executive one, so he was not involved in the day to day activities of the bank and most people are furios at that statement he made as he’s shifting the blame, reason why people are on him on Social media.
For a journalist like Manesseh, people are expecting him to write on the Capital Bank-Otabil Saga but nothing has been written on it by him yet and people are beginning to question his integrity as a journalist. Some people are of the view that, Manasseh only criticises those he hates, a reason why he’s not being able to speak up on the Capital bank issue because it involves, Dr. Mensa Otabil, the man who officiated his wedding.
Nana Aba Anamoah, a journalist at Ghone TV joined in the trolls on Social media and in a single post she made, explained why Manasseh has not written anything yet.
The witty news presented posted; “Manasseh Azure cannot remember the password to his laptop. The password reset button too is not working. Opana’s silence is brought to you by…” and added a picture from Manasseh’s wedding which sees Otabil in the background as the man of God officiating it.
