NDC under Mills remains Ghana’s best regime since independence – Ofosu Ampofo

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, national chairman of the NDC, reminded Ghanaians that former President Atta Mills had the finest economy since independence.

According to the NDC veteran, the NDC is Ghana’s finest economic manager.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo revealed this while addressing the 16 regional chairman of the party during a retreat in Wa, Upper West region over the weekend.

He referenced 2009-2012, when President Evans Atta Mills was president of Ghana and Dr. Kwabena Duffuor was finance minister, as proof that under an NDC administration, Ghanaians are always better off than under an NPP or other government.

Ofosu Ampofo remarked, “The difficulties we have in our nation need deeper contemplation and experienced hands as a competent alternative.” He added, “We cannot seek outside the NDC for such option.”

The NDC recently launched its internal reform process with a membership registration drive that would lead to internal elections involving the election of executives for branches, constituencies, regions, national posts, and its flag bearer for the 2024 general elections.

Chairman Ofosu Ampofo, who is seeking reelection, may face challenge from general secretary Asiedu Nketiah. If former president Mahama runs again, he would likely face former bank of Ghana governor and finance minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor.

As an opposition party, the NDC must pick its presidential candidate 22 months before general elections.
