The Hiplife music genre started with a lot of groups that were formed by friends who claim to have similar musical ideas but as the years unfold most of these groups broke up for one reason or another.
One of the notable names that came up as a music group in the early 2000s as a result of the Nescafe talent hunt show was Wutah made up of Afriyie and Kobby.
The duo produced several hit songs such as “Big Dreams”, “Kotosa”, “Adonko”, etc. and inevitably made them a household name which got them several nominations and awards in the music industry.
They bounced back after years of going their separate ways kind courtesy the support of Guru and helped them produce an instant banger “Bronya”, however they’ve gone their separate ways again.
Wutah Kobby in a celebrity interview with Amansan Krakye of Radio Central fame in Cape Coast was asked whether he feels their separation has let their fans down, he said
“I think it’s true that we have let our fans down but first of all let me apologize to all our teeming fans who have been disappointed in our separation. They should find a place in their hearts to forgive me.
“However, I think our separation was inevitable, it was bound to happen that’s why I did that video on social media. I can’t work with Afriyie again but I don’t hate him.
“I think if I’m going to be candid, I don’t think if I were your sibling, you’ll advise me to continue being part of the group even if it’s going to cost me my life.
“It’s not as if I couldn’t sacrifice myself or come to a compromise. If you don’t have the full facts you might conclude wrongly. Destiny has been fulfilled so I’m now a solo artiste.
“With my experience as a member of a music group, I will never wish to ever be in one but I wouldn’t advise anyone to also think same after all what might work for you won’t work for someone else.
