The federal government of Nigeria has finally lifted the ban that was placed on popular microblogging site, Twitter in 2021

The social media platform was banned in June 2021 after President Buhari’s tweet got deleted that it violates the community guidelines and policies which sparked the outcry of freedom of speech.

The African most populous country however called on the tech giant to pay applicable tax and establish a legal entity in the country in the first quarter of 2022 before the ban will be lifted.

Well, as Twitter agreed to pay the tax and establish their presence in the country the president has now approved the lifting of the suspension of Twitter operation which took effect from midnight on 13th January 2022
