A female soldier who accepted the proposal of a corps member that went viral on social media has been arrested by the Nigerian Army.
The army has confirmed the arrest after the National Youth Service Corps orientation member in Yikpata, Kwara State proposed to one of the female soldiers than she eventually accepted.

The female soldier engulfed the news headlines last week after a video finds its way onto the digital space as a corps member is seen proposing to her at the NYSC camp.
The Army spokesperson, however, added that soldiers violated the rules and regulations guiding the codes and conduct of every military personnel when they’re on duty.
He also emphasized that the actions of the soldiers amounts to taking advantage of the trainee saying the public would have been outraged and accused the coercion of the army should it be a male who proposed a female corps during the NYSC parade.
In his words, “The female soldier in question violated the following rules of the NA:
“1. Fraternization while on official duty at the NYSC camp. That is, indulging in an amorous relationship with a trainee.
“2. A personnel must have served for three years before he/she can qualify for marriage.
3. She disobeyed the Armed Forces of Nigeria standing guidelines and directives for the use of Social Media.
“4. Indulging in romance while in uniform.
“5. Her conduct was prejudicial to good order and military discipline.
“All the above, if proven are in violation of extant laws with attendant disciplinary and penal implications.”
