Nigerians don’t honour music contracts – Akon on why he couldn’t work with Wizkid and Davido

American singer, songwriter, Akon has bemoaned of how some top Nigerian artists refused the contracts he signed with them back in the days in a way to help develop their careers.

According to Akon, he signed Wizkid and Davido back in the days, to help their careers but it later turned out sour.

He revealed this in an interview with The Breakfast Club revealing how “in Africa, especially in Nigeria, music contracts are not honoured.

According to the American singer, Nigeria’s biggest acts, Psquare, Wizkid and Davido failed to honour the contracts he signed with them adding that he loves the two artists regardless, but David more for his independent nature and his hustling spirit despite his struggles in Atlanta as a young musician.

Talking about Afrobeat as well, he claimed he was the one that shipped that kind of music to the world.
