‘No Ghanaian Affected In Xenophobic Attacks’ – Government Of Ghana

South Africans renewed their xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals, especially Nigerians on September 1, 2019 and the situation still persists in some parts of the country although some arrests have been made and the act widely condemned on social media.

Ghanaians who have relatives in South Africa are also apprehensive about what’s going on there as regard the safety of their families. On that score, the government of Ghana through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that no Ghanaian has been affected about these attacks so far.

In a statement released by the Ministry and signed by the sector minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, the government has ensured citizens back in Ghana that so far there are no confirmed Ghanaian casualties among the victims.

Government, however, urged the authorities in South Africa to take every necessary action in order to promote harmonious cohabitations among the citizenry and other nationals in the country.
