Norman Powell biography
Powell was born to Sharon and Norman Powell Sr. in San Diego, California. His uncle Raymond Edwards introduced him to basketball. Powell made the choice to enrol in Lincoln High, which had recently undergone reconstruction and had lost many athletes.
In 2009 and 2010, the squad won back-to-back California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) San Diego Section 2A titles with his assistance in rebuilding their basketball program.
Along with winning the 2010 CIF Division II Boys’ State Championship, the team also defeated Mountain View St. Francis 74-59, with Powell scoring 24 points in the process. As a junior, he averaged 19.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game. He was named to the first team for the all-state squad and was named the Western League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
