Mr. Henry Yaw Afful, the First Vice Chairman of the Jaman South Constituency for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is reported to have shut down a primary school down in Ampenkro/Asatroa, leaving pupils and teachers helpless.
The Vice Chairman is said to have sacked pupils from their classrooms before closing down the school on claims that the government has not yet paid him for the projects he has completed.
According to the report, the six-unit classroom project was given to his firm, ‘Henforo’s Construction’ as a contract under the One Million Dollars per Constituency policy.
Alhaji Abuu, the Municipal Chief Executive of the constituency, reassured the people that the school will be provided with a temporal place in the meantime during a radio interview.
He also condemned the behavior of the contractor or firm saying it was an unfortunate action.
“The action by the contractor is unfortunate because the community supported the project with communal labour and, therefore, the people must not suffer,” Mr Abuu chided.
The headmaster of the school, Mr Samuel Afful also condemned the act, saying that the action of the contractor has affected school activities.
