Few hours ago, news broke out that some gunned men stormed University of Cape Coast campus to attack some students. According to the reports, some students were attacked.
The school authorities have however come to clear the air claiming that what happened was all a prank and that no armed robbers stormed the school.
But in an exclusive interview with Ghbase.com one of the students who prefers to remain anonymous, debunked the reports of the school authorities stating emphatically that indeed they were attacked.
According to the student, he was on his way to his hostel when he was ambushed by some robbers who took away his money and other valuables. He explained that because he didn’t have his phone on him, the robbers assaulted him before letting him go.
He also added that this is not the first time students were talking robbed at the school. Some female students were even raped by these robbers when they couldn’t find any valuables on them.
” Our school authorities don’t give a damn about us! Our safety and security is the least thing on their mind hence the reason this kind of incidents keep reoccurring. I had about 200 cedis on me when I was attacked and they took it and took my watch and the food I had gone to buy to eat. What kind of robbery is that?” He stated.
Speaking on the way forward, he advised the school authorities to do whatever it takes to protect the student body.
He advised them to put measures in place to make sure such things are completely eradicated in the school.
Now that the general election is fast approaching, the big question on the minds of every Ghanaian is, are we safe? Has the security in Ghana being compromised? Especially with the recent reports of murder and kidnappings happening right under our nose.
