The son of Paul George and Paulette George, George was born in Palmdale, California, in Los Angeles County. Teiosha, a Pepperdine basketball player, and Portala, a CSU-San Bernardino volleyball player, were his two elder sisters.
George grew up supporting the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers and idolized Lakers great Kobe Bryant. The majority of his leisure time was spent playing basketball in the park or against his older sister Teiosha one-on-one. He was a student at Mesquite Elementary. His first year at Knight High School was the first time he participated in organized basketball.
His final three years of high school were spent participating in varsity basketball under head coach Tom Hegre. Jrue Holiday and Malcolm Lee, both future UCLA Bruins, played for George’s AAU team Pump and Run.
