Gyaama Pensan Senior High Technical School beat off competition from Prempeh College, Opoku Ware Senior High School, KUHIS, Kumasi Academy, Obuasi Secondary Technical School, Konongo Odumasi Senior High school and others to win the topmost prize.
The Ampem Nananom students presented a project on Plant Microbial Fuel Cell Technology which uses plants and bacteria to generate renewable energy to power LED, calculators, small fans and mobile phones. The project can also be made by using plants on the streets to generate electricity to illuminate the roads.
The final region competition had 10 schools participated in the competition and the students presented first-class innovative projects that could support the energy needs of the country.

The Schools Renewable Energy Creation Team Leader, Mr. Frank Agyekum threw more light on the importance of their project and the need for the country to support their school in this outstanding project.
He explained further that the competition has developed the research skills, promoted the technical innovation in renewable energy efficiencies in his students for them to develop a passion for solving renewable energy challenges, climate change and encourage hard work through public recognition and rewards.
More importantly, Gyaama Pensan Senior High Technical School is set to represent the Ashanti region in the next stage of the competition.
