President Akufo Addo approves State Burial for Nana Kwame Ampadu

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has approved for late Highlife music legend, Nana Kwame Ampadu to be given a state burial.

The veteran musician died on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. aged 76.

Earlier, former MUSIGHA president and hiplife musician, Obour, postulated that the late Highlife legend, Nana Kwame Ampadu should be given a state burial due to his immense contribution to Ghana music as a whole.

The wish of many Ghanaian entertainers has been granted as the Director of Communication at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin made this known at a press briefing at the Jubilee House Thursday morning.

A former General Secretary of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Nana Kwame Ampadu born Patrick Kwame Ampadu was the founder of the famous African Brothers Band and rose to national prominence in 1967 with his song Ebi Te Yie.

Meanwhile, the government is yet to formally communicate its intentions to the family of the late singer.
