President Buhari’s Personal Bodyguard Is Confirmed Dead

One of President Muhammadu Buhari’s bodyguards, Warrant Officer Lawal Mato, on Tuesday, passed away.

He died after three years of struggling with diabetes, presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, announced in a statement.

In the statement released by Senior Special Assistant to the President, Mato was described as ‘Very thorough, a trustworthy and dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus.’

It further revealed that Mato has been working with President Buhari before he won the 2015 elections and was part of a team that former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua restored to President Buhari as personal security.

WO Mato had been off full duty for three years treating diabetes till his death today.
