A nine-year-old student at the Happy Royals International School, a private school in the Ashanti Region’s Asokore Mampong Municipality, has multiple bruises on her back and buttocks.
This was in response to her female teacher allegedly subjecting her to severe beatings for failing to complete a class assignment.
Following the incident, the victim was taken to a private health facility and referred to the Manhyia District Hospital for further treatment.
The victim has been released from the hospital, and her parents have filed an official complaint with the Manhyia Divisional Police Command’s Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit.
Mohammed Saani, the victim’s father, expressed his disappointment and wishes for the law to take its course.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service’s Asokore Mampong Municipal Directorate has summoned the school’s proprietor and management to discuss the situation.
The school’s administration has declined to comment on the matter, other than to say that the directorate is looking into it.
