The Reason Why Ghanaian Artistes Are Not Popular In Nigeria Revealed

Ghanaian music has been on the rise lately and on the wings of different genres, they have earned recognition in many African countries. However the fact still remains that Nigerian artistes remain supreme on the continent and beyond. For this reasons many Ghanaian artistes believe breaking into the Nigerian market will definitely boost their brand and soar their popularity. Ghana and Nigeria collaborations have been instant success so we assume Ghanaians are already making their mark in Nigeria.

On the contrary, Nigerian Pulse TV presenter and MC Chuey Chu has said Ghanaians artistes are not known in Nigeria and blamed it on poor management. According to him if Ghanaian artistes really want to make inroads into Nigerian space, then they will need to have aggressive public relations team to project their brands.

Speaking as a guest on the Class Drive, hosted by Prince Benjamin on Class 91.3FM Chuey Chu said: “Ghanaian artistes that have my attention, I’m looking at Medikal, I really like his song Too Risky; I am looking at Kofi Kinata, Eazzy, Becca – these are those who I can get on top of my head.

“I would like to hear more from Efya, a lot of Ghana music does not come to the Nigerian space and I think that might be a PR problem. There are a lot of good stuffs here. I will love them to come to the Nigerian market without doing collaboration with other Nigerian artistes because sometimes realistically, it (collaboration) will drown you out.

“We have had Stonebwoy do collaboration, but do we remember Stonebwoy in Nigeria? I don’t think we do. Sarkodie, we don’t remember you like that; with Efya, not really. Even in the Nigerian space Wizkid did a song with Drake, but do the Americans remember Wizkid? No. So just give us that song so that it will be like this Ghana song is banging.”
