Shatta Wale hoax: Pastor Jesus Ahoufe granted GH¢100K bail

Bishop Stephen Kwesi Appiah of the New Life Kingdom Chapel, popularly known as Jesus Ahuofe, who allegedly prophesied the death of Charles Nii Armah Mensah (Shatta Wale), has been granted GHc100,000 bail.

He had spent four days in lawful custody after pleading not guilty to a charge of causing fear and panic.

He is required to produce three sureties who are gainfully employed as part of his bail conditions and to report to police on Mondays and Thursdays.

The case has been rescheduled for October 29.

Bishop Appiah was remanded into police custody on Thursday after pleading not guilty to the charge of causing fear and panic before Her Honour Mrs Ellen Offei Aryeh of the Circuit Court.

Jesus Ahuofe was arrested after predicting that Shatta Wale, a dancehall artist, would be killed on October 18, 2021.

While praying for bail in court on Thursday, October 21, counsel for the accused person Martin Kpebu stated that his client was ill.

However, he did not provide any evidence to back up his claim. The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey, did oppose to bail being granted.

After hearing from the parties, the court remands the accused person into police custody until Monday, October 25, 2021.
