Rex Omar to hold one week funeral observation for his mum

Veteran Ghanaian musician and current Chairman of GHAMRO, Rex Omar has announced the plans for the one-week commemoration of his late mother, Grace Adwoa Duoduwaa. Rex Omar lost his mother on January 4, 2024 and together with his family, have organized a One-Week Observance to honor her memory.

This event is set to take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at The Page, which is located off the Kaneshie-Mallam Road, starting at 8am. Rex Omar shared the details of the one-week observation through a post on his Facebook page.

About Rex Omar’s Mum – Grace Adwoa Duoduwaa

Rex Omar’s mother, Grace Adwoa Duoduwaa, aka O’Gray, was born on January 2, 1947 to Opanin Kwasi Boakye and Maama Afia Anane. She was the fourth child out of five, with four girls and one boy. In 1952, she started her education at Asɔkɔre Methodist Primary and finished Middle School with the (MSLC) in 1962.

After Middle School, she pursued a career in design and dressmaking in Kumasi, where she met Mr. Emmanuel Rexford Owusu Ansah, a Medical Practitioner. They got married in 1964. Madam Duodowaa had a total of eight children, six boys and two girls. Her firstborn, who is Rex Kwame Owusu Marfo, popularly known as Rex Omar, was born on February 6, 1965.

O’Gray was a devout Christian and instilled strong values in her children. Her second child, Rev. Osei Asibey, became a Pastor. She continued her dressmaking business for a long time until her health started to decline, causing her to stop her business.
