Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey, according to Black Galaxies assistant coach Bismark Kobi-Mensah, is capable of playing for the current Black Stars lineup.

Chris Hughton’s 25-man roster for Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers against Angola excludes any homegrown players.

Numerous football fans in the nation have criticized the choice to not use local players.

The head coach of Great Olympics, however, thinks that some local players have the abilities and talent required to be a part of the current squad.

Richmond Lamptey of Asante Kotoko, according to Kobi-Mensah, should be chosen for the team because of his exceptional brilliance and technical ability to read the game.

Kobi-Mensah told Kumasi-based Pure FM, “I can tell you that most of the local players are better than some of the foreign players and there are a lot of them. Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, for me is one of the best midfielders in the country because he covers a lot of distance and he is technically good.”
