Owner of Chelsea Football Club, Roman Abramovich has been given 81 days to sell the London-based club and walk away without a penny or the club becomes a non-functioning entity.
The future of the London-based outfit seems to be very much in limbo after the billionaire was yesterday sanctioned and had his assets frozen due to his ties with Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
Since Russia declared war on Ukraine, Roman Abramovich has become the target for Russian businesses around the world as world leaders continue to cut ties and businesses with Russia.
Roman who gave the green light for the club to be sold after problems started following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will have to sell the club before May 31 or the ‘license’ that will allow the club to play on to the end of the season will NOT be renewed.
According to a report by the Sun, Abramovich will have to agree to the sale and walk away without a PENNY before the license runs out on May 31 to guarantee the survival of the club as a functioning entity.
The PM’s official spokesman explained: “A specific license can be granted to allow any sale to proceed. But under no circumstance would any sale allow Roman Abramovich to profit from that or take any money from that sale.”
