Following the sanction placed on Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovic, their main kit sponsor, Nike is considering walking away from their 15-year deal with Chelsea in a split that could cost the Blues £540MILLION.
Yesterday, the Uk government announced that they had frozen Roman Abramovich‘s assets and placed him on the sanction list.
The UK government sanctioned the Russian billionaire as part of its efforts to “isolate” Russian President Vladimir Putin following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
This move by the UK government halted the sale of the London-based club and also prohibited them from buying or selling of players until further notice.
Nike’s decision to part ways with the club comes after ‘Three’ suspended their shirt sponsorship deal with the London-based outfit.
According to the Sun, Nike is seriously considering pulling out of their agreement too.
The two parties agreed to a 15-year, £900m deal back in 2016 – but after recent events, Nike is claimed to be ‘considering walking away’ which would cost the Blues a staggering £540m.
