It seems that the powerful E-levy policy couldn’t fix Ghana’s difficulties, as Akufo-Addo in a communiqué has asked the finance minister in Ken Ofori-Atta to contact the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for financial help

President Akufo-Addo and IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva spoke over the phone on July 1, 2022, according to a statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and dated July 1st, 2022.

According to a statement from the Ghanaian government, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, has authorized Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to begin formal contacts with IMF officials, requesting that the Fund back a government economic plan.

Cabinet backed the government’s plan to pursue an economic program from the Fund during a meeting on June 30th, 2022.

Ghana’s IMF participation is aimed at bolstering the country’s ability to recover from the COVID-19 epidemic and the Russian-Ukraine situation, according to a statement from Ghana’s Ministry of Finance.
