Sarah Shulze was known as a student athlete of the University of Wisconsin Madison but on April 19th, 2022 it was reported that she has died by suicide.
She graduated in 2019 at Oak Park High and was a star athlete in her high school and was even named Ventura County Athlete of the Year where she received scholarship to travel to Wisconsin in 2018.
The University of Wisconsin released an official statement over the weekend following the passing of Sarah Shulze.
The statement reads, “The Wisconsin Athletics community is deeply saddened by the unexpected death of Sarah Shulze,” the university said.
“Sarah was a lovely daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a friend, a teammate and a Badger student athlete.
“We extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to Sarah’s family, friends and colleagues of the Badger team at this incredibly difficult time.”
Her family also released a statement saying “Sarah took her own life. Balancing athletics, academics and the demands of every day life overwhelmed her in a single, desperate moment,” the family wrote on Shulze’s website. “Like you, we are shocked and grief stricken while holding on tightly to all that Sarah was.”

After the news of Sarah Shulze’s death surfaced many people have been searching for what caused her death but the kind of technique or the way she implored to take her own life hasn’t been revealed.
Balancing athletics, academics and the necessities of daily life has puzzled her at the same time, of despair,” Shulze’s family said.
