The University of Ghana(UG) and the University of Cape Coast(UCC) have postponed their reopening date due to a strike by their senior staff.

The basis of this strike is to protest the unsettled payment of their market premium and Tier-2 market arrears among others.

According dailymailgh.com, The University of Ghana Basic School management wrote in a letter, “It is very unfortunate to inform you of a postponement of in our reopening date scheduled for 25th January 2021. A new date of resumption will be communicated to you later.”

“All sections of the University Basic Schools (KG, Primary, JHS, and North Campus) will be closed from Monday, 25th January 2021 until further notice,” they added.

The management University of Cape Coast Basic School also stated in a letter on Sunday 24 January 2021, “This is due to the strike action embarked upon by the Senior Staff Association-Universities of Ghana of which our staff are members.”

It is unfortunate that the academic calendar which had already been setback by COVID-19 might be further setback in the schools in question due to recent developments.
