The PPRO stated, “Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of today turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in the company of his lawyer and family representative. He has been placed under arrest.”

Recall that Seun was arrested in Lagos after the Inspector General of Police ordered it due to an assault on a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge.

In order to arrest the Afrobeat singer, police reportedly barged into his Lagos flat and the African shrine in the Ikeja neighbourhood of Lagos, according to a number of Nigerian-based blogs, including Vanguard.

Seun attacked a police officer in Lagos who was wearing a uniform and carrying out official responsibilities yesterday, and the Police Service Commission, PSC, condemned the act.

Baba Usman Alkali, the Inspector General of Police, was praised by PSC for acting quickly to order Seun’s detention and legal action. Seun reportedly fled the scene of the assault but was apprehended by police after they acted quickly.

A police officer was assaulted by Seun Kuti on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State. In a 12-second video clip that went viral on Saturday, Kuti was seen pushing a police officer who was in a red shirt and white pants and was standing next to a Toyota Hilux police van.

He then proceeded to slap the cop, as he shouted, “You dey crase, you dey mad?”
