Article Wan, whose Solo song resonated throughout Ghana last year, says the main objective of every musician is to make money which is not dependent genre or the content. This disclosure from the young musician certainly gives credence to the fact music churn out lately are ‘noisy’ and lack any proper message.
As far Article Wan is concerned, music lovers do not care about lyrics but rather what they can dance to. He used Shatta Wale’s style as an example, saying, “Shatta Wale is making all the money now despite being criticised that his lyrics are nothing to write home about.
“Some people have even said that he is not a Dancehall artiste because he does different genres of music but once he is making money, I don’t think he should be bothered about all these talks.”
Furthering his stance, the musician said there are lots great Ghanaian musicians whose clean and powerfully lyrics did not save them from poverty, as it were.
“I did a lot of positive songs with good lyrics but no one paid attention until I dropped Solo which brought me to the limelight. In fact, I made a lot of money performing from one show to the other”, he said.
