Earlier yesterday, Ghbase.com reported on Ruff Town Records partnership with Midas Touch Incorporation to entertain music enthusiasts a day before the burial of the late Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng affectionately called Ebony Reigns.
However, what seems to be a good news after some interval turned out to be accusations in reference to a subsequent post by Bullet, manager of the late Ebony Reigns. According to him via Facebook post, some artistes have called him to request for a performance fee else their presence at the tribute concert can’t be traced on the day – March 23, 2018.
In the voice of Ricky Nana Agyeman aka Bullet, the very artistes who are demanding for a performance fee willingly made an appearance at Ebony’s one week observation without invitation perhaps to utilize the platform for their own gains. Therefore, he can’t reason with them why they are now requesting money before performing at her tribute. This compelled him to label the artistes in mind as hypocrites!
Fast forward, social media users, as usual, started pointing fingers at Shatta Wale as the black sheep among the masses or better still the victim of the situation. What gave birth to this thinking was the fact that when Ebony was alive, her collaboration with the aforementioned artiste failed to see the light of the day as a result of a ‘gargantuan collaboration fee’ demanded by the self-acclaimed Dancehall king.
Now, the argument of those pointing fingers at Shatta Wale is that he was present at Ebony’s one week observation but he’s missing out on the official artistes ‘billed’ to perform on the day. For clarity sake, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Samini, Yaa Pono, VVIP, R2Bees, Kofi Kinaata, Feli Nuna, Ras Kuuku, Brella, Danny Beatz,.et al. happen to be the performers. But then, don’t forget that Shatta Wale denied Ebony a collaboration when she was alive as explained above.
Amidst the plenty of accusations leveled against Shatta Wale, your favorite entertainment blog, www.ghbase.com brings to you the other side of the issue that proves that Shatta Wale for once is innocent. If you could remember, Zylofon Media not long ago released a communiqué that no business organization should transact business directly with any of their signed acts else such organization well be sued.
Regardless of the threats, one of their signees is part of the performing acts at the pending Ebony’s tribute, therefore a simple logic proves that there’s a violation somewhere as in the case of Stonebwoy. Taking into consideration the fact that born Livingstone Etse Satekla aka Stonebwoy is currently at war with Zylofon Media/Music. So, it’s not surprising for Stonebwoy to act contrary to the dictates of the terms and conditions in his contract with the 360 entertainment company in Ghana, unlike Shatta Wale.
More importantly, Shatta Wale is signed onto Zylofon Media/Music and has no beef or whatsoever with the label. So, it’s expected of him to act accordingly to the dictates of the record label. Therefore, if Zylofon’s most recent communiqué is anything to go by, then what it means is that Shatta Wale can’t make the decision whether to perform for free or not, unless he has exclusive rights.
