Talented Indian cricketer Shubman Gill currently plays domestic cricket for Punjab and for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. Notably, he captained the Indian Under-19 cricket team as vice captain during the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, demonstrating remarkable abilities and winning the coveted Player of the Tournament title.

Gill, the youngest player to score a double century in One Day International (ODI) cricket, is a right-handed opening batsman who has made cricket history. He also owns the record for the highest individual T20 International (T20I) score for the Indian team.

His cricket career started in 2017 with a List-A debut against Vidharbha. In the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, he made his first-class debut for Punjab against Bengal. In January 2019, Gill made his debut internationally, demonstrating his talent on a worldwide scale.

In 2022, Gill’s career took a significant turn when he helped the Gujarat Titans win the Indian Premier League and the much-coveted IPL championship. Shubman Gill’s Career Journey

Shubman Gill’s cricketing journey is intertwined with his early beginnings in Fazilka, Punjab, where he was born on September 8, 1999, into a Sikh family. His father, Lakhwinder Singh, an agriculturist with cricketing aspirations, recognized Gill’s potential early on. To nurture this talent, the family relocated to Mohali, in close proximity to the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, providing Gill with the opportunity to train at a higher level.

Gill’s extraordinary talent was immediately apparent when, at the age of 14, he scored a double century in the Vijay Merchant Trophy to mark his Under-16 debut for Punjab. In Punjab’s Inter-District Under-16 competition in 2014, he scored 351 runs and put together a record-breaking opening partnership of 587 runs with Nirmal Singh.

Shubman Gill’s early successes hinted at a bright future, and his later triumphs both domestically and internationally have cemented his place among India’s cricketing treasures. Shahneel Gill is the twin sister of Shubman Gill.

Gill was encouraged to play cricket against local boys by his father, Lakhwinder Singh, who built a cricket ground for him topracticee on their farm. Gill’s school also provided him with coaching for a while. His father relocated the family to Mohali when he was older so he could attend the academy run by the Punjab Cricket Association.

In the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Gill made his List A debut for Punjab; in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, he made his first-class debut. In his second first-class match against Services, batting 129 against Bengal, he made his first century.

He was instrumental in the Indian U-19 team’s series victory over the England U-19 team in February 2017. He was selected as the vice-captain of India’s team in December 2017 for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. After scoring the most runs (372), he was named player of the competition.
