Weaver’s father, Sylvester Weaver, was a successful television executive who played a significant role in the development of NBC, and her mother, Elizabeth Inglis, was an English actress who appeared in many films and television shows.
She grew up in Manhattan and attended the Ethel Walker School in Connecticut, where she was introduced to drama by her mother. She later attended Stanford University and graduated with a degree in English in 1972.
