Simon Dunn was an Australian rugby player and bobsledder. He was raised in Wollongong and, until retiring in 2016, was the first out homosexual man to compete for any nation in the sport of bobsledding. He lived in Sydney and played rugby there until his passing after spending several years in London.

Rugby league was Simon Dunn’s primary sport growing up in Wollongong, south of Sydney.
He originally stopped playing after coming out because he was struggling with his own sexuality and the demands of his sporting career. However, after returning from Canada and joining the Sydney Convicts Rugby team, he started playing again.
Dunn had the chance to test out for the Australian bobsleigh squad while visiting Canada to advance his playing career and working at the Canadian Sports Institute gym.
He became the first out gay person to represent any nation in sport by being selected for this team and representing his country.
