One of the stories that came up during the AFCON in Egypt was that the Stars were paid an amount of $80,000 as appearance fee.

Contrary to the breakdown of expenditure spent by the Black Stars in Egypt as presented to Parliament by Mr Isaac Asiamah, the Minister of Youth and Sports, a new report suggests each player pocketed $20,000.

Recall that midfielder Kwabena Owusu midfielder rubbished claims that each player received a whopping $80,000 as appearance fees.

Kwabena Owusu who was speaking on GHOne TV said that the players received $20,000 instead of the speculated amount of $80,000.

He said: “I was shocked when I heard the rumour that we received $80,000 as an appearance fee. We did not get $80,000 as appearance fee, our appearance fee was $20,000. Black Stars Players have received a lot of insults from Ghanaians after the AFCON tournament because Ghanaians lack knowledge about football.”

Well, a ‘white sheet’ which details the amount each player took with their respective signatures appended to the money they took has been released into the public domain vindicating Kwabena Owusu.
