Outstanding Ghanaian movie director and producer, Mr Samuel Nyamekye has refuted claims that the movie business in Kumasi has collapsed. To him, there’s a retrogressive change in the movie industry but it’s not dead as portrayed by others.
The CEO of Miracle Films on Bohye FM’s Mid-Morning Show with Murphe Lee was reacting to Nana Ama Mcbrown’s claim that the movie industry in Kumasi is dead.
“I will not agree with Mcbrown that the industry has collapsed. I will only agree that it’s going down. Kumawood movie industry will never collapse. The fact is that the quality has gone down. We will soon rejuvenate it. Very soon we will raise the quality higher. We will soon launch a new Kumawood brand and we will all see the change”, he confidently stated.
Contrary to the above, renowned Kumawood actress Nana Ama McBrown in her most recent interview with Andy Dosty of Accra-based Hitz FM postulated that the local movie industry, Kumawood, is dead. According to to her, the number of movie scripts she normally receives in a month has declined significantly.
