Security officers of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital through a special operation has arrested two suspected blood thieves and has handed them over to the Ghana Police Service.
The two suspected thieves were arrested around 2:00 am on Saturday, May 22, 2021, when the security of the Hospital mounted a special operation upon a tip-off.
This was revealed in a statement released by the PRD of the Teaching Hospital in the early hours of Saturday, May 22, 2021.
The statement from the Public Relations Department said their activities came to the attention of the security following a tip-off.
“They were arrested at the surgical third floor when they made the attempt to steal several pints of blood mobilised for various surgical procedures,” the statement said.
However, the motive for their actions are yet to be known.
Meanwhile, staff of the hospital has been urged to be vigilant when they see any suspicious activity and alert the security.
