Kuami Eugene may have been all over the world and played for different crowds, but his most recent experience at the match between Kotoko and Elmina Sharks on June 12 at the Baba Yara Stadium, was the most difficult.

In a chit-chat with NY DJ on YFM’s breakfast show, he talked about why he had to play at the game.

“This is more than just being a Kotoko fan, even though I am a real die-hard fan of the team. “This was a stage for the whole country,” he said.

Kuami Eugene also said that performing at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was the hardest thing he’d ever done.

“I’ve done over 70,000 fans before in Sierra Leone. Even though this crowd wasn’t that big, this is the hardest show I’ve ever played. For obvious reasons, this is the closest any of my fans have ever come to me. I’ve never seen anything like this.

He continued by saying;

“It scared everyone. Dentaa told me not to go back, but I wasn’t sure. She asked me more than once if I wanted to do it because it was risky, and I said YES.

At the time, the crowd was too big for security to handle. Already, they had jumped from the stands onto the field, which was crazy.

This is the hardest job I’ve ever had, and to my surprise, there were women here. Some wanted to just touch my hair. It was actually a very nice time…”

Kuami Eugene said that he wished he could keep performing, but that officials later told him not to.

“It was getting more and more difficult, so I had to leave. The officials told me to stop because they were trying to calm down the fans, but it wasn’t working. I only sang three songs, even though I had about 15 to sing.”
