Abraham Amaliba, a member of the NDC legal team, has revealed that there is a captivating reason why the petitioner, John Dramani Mahama has filed to call a third witness in the ongoing 2020 election petition case.
Speaking on Starr FM this morning, he said he knew it would be difficult to bring in another witness after already filing their witness statements but there is a “compelling reason” it is being done now. “From my legal understanding, it will be difficult to bring in another witness because we’ve filed our witness statement. With this one, there was a compelling reason why we didn’t file his witness statement earlier and we did it yesterday,” he explained.
The court agreed to the lawyers for the petitioner’s request to admit a third witness after their two witness where done with their cross examination. The witness being Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, the other representative of the National Democratic Congress in the Electoral Commission’s national collation center.
It is not confirmed whether Mettle-Nunoo will appear before an open court due to concerns raised about his health condition before his witness statement were filed.
