Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, an NPP loyalist, says a government overhaul would be needed before 2024.
In recent months, calls for President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to change his ministers have risen due to the country’s economic predicament and several key ministries’ outputs.
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has also been called for his dismissal following the bad state of the economy.
Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a governance expert, said President Nana Addo doesn’t reshuffle quickly.
In an interview with Citi TV at the NPP 2022 delegates meeting, he said the president would change his ministers if he deems it necessary.
According to him, the demands for a reshuffle are reasonable and will be needed before the 2024 election.
“Clearly, between now and 2024, the need will arise. And some may say the need is now. But I think he is a listening president, he will listen, he will look at what he wants to do, what he is getting from his ministers, what he’s not getting from them, and make the right decision,” he said.
He said President Nana Addo doesn’t use reshuffling to whip his ministers, but would when necessary.
“I believe that there will definitely be some changes because as you said some will step down or will have to step down to pursue their presidential ambitions,” he added.
